My First Race

Newly minted Cat 5 racer and recent MKE import, Noah White, jumped in his first race this past weekend at Evergreen Park in Sheboygan. Conditions were ideal for a great day of spring racing in Belgium, which is i believe a similar latitude to Wisco...

Things didn't go exactly as planned but they rarely do in bike racing--all you can do is learn from your mistakes and build on them. Nice job Noah!! --nh

UCI Michigan Cross Races

I wasn't real excited about the 7 hour drive to Davisburg MI, but the appeal of two UCI cross races was too great. I rode over with Tristan Schouten friday during the day so we could check out the course the night before and get our legs streched out after the long drive. The course was dry and bumpy but we figured that the 5 hours of racing before our race would smooth it out a bit.
Long week of excersize. Didnt have much time to ride this week but I am starting to feel a little better. You talk about some kind of cold or whatever. I am still having junk coming from within. I was only at about 60 to 70% of my racing form befor I got sick now i figured about 50% or so. I got smoked off the back of a race I feel I should be able to win last weekend.

Monday Madison & Track Practice

We are holding an informal Madison practice TOMORROW at the Kenosha Velodrome starting at around 4pm. There is a madison this Tuesday night and several of the madison racers have felt that honing the skills would be a major advantage. Brian Hammer crashed pretty hard in the Madison a few weeks back and we hope to avoid any more bloodletting on the oval this year. (Get yourself fixed-up Hammer!)

Right now Dan, Natalie Klemko, and myself are going for sure. Tenatives are JT, Aoen (coffee trailer guy), Jack, maybe Otter...pairs TBD.
We should really invite Jonas Carney if he's in town because he's got the skills. Maybe next time...
ANYONE ELSE?? We can do other track practice as well depending on who else shows up, but Madison is the main focus.

UW Whitewater Crit

Saturday started off like anyother race day for me....wake-up early, eat good breakfast(or not so good that morning), meet teammate(s) to carpool with. Alice and I drove to the race together yesterday morning and arrived in Whitewater around 8:15am. After registering we met our new teammate Rebecca(who is a good addition to the women's field and we're happy to have her race with us!), and as usual we proceeded to warm up. Finally,it was our turn to tackle the technical course, but as soon as the officials gave the ok to do a couple laps before the race, my chain falls off : ( I only get one warm up lap in and am getting a bad feeling about what's yet to come in the race. But I soon find I had nothing to worry about. I was switching my place in the field constantly and was even able to take turns at the front with Alice and Rebecca. I was feeling a lot more confident during the race and was being aggressive in the pack. Through one of the turns I locked wheels with Rebecca and thankfully didn't brake or both of us were going to be taken down. We finished the race, but it wasn't until after I noticed that I had bent spokes and my wheel was way out of true because of the little mishap...OOPS. Anyway back to how we finished. We respectively took 3rd, 4th, and 6th!!!! I think we unconcsciencly had team tactics going on through out the entire race and we were able to work as a team. WE ROCK : ) Nice job to the others who raced yesterday and I'll see most of you at the track on Tuesday or at the race next weekend!!!!
Spring Prairie Race Report

Sorry this took me a week to get together...

Saturday morning started out early (7am arrival) and rainy. I was thinking that sitting at the registration table for the day was sounding like a better option that racing in the cold rain. But, by 8:30 the rain was done, and the four Beans ladies (Jen, Brenda, Sabrina, and myself) participating in the day’s race were getting ready for warm-up.
